On May 7, 2022, Virginia’s Attorney General issued a statement regarding purported threats made to Virginia Catholic Masses on Mother’s Day. This was in response to the Supreme Court’s recent leak signaling that it would overturn Roe v. Wade. To provide more information to the public, we issued a FOIA Request regarding that statement and our AG’s subsequent appearance on Fox News regarding the statement.

The Attorney General responded by denying our request. In doing so, the AG cited Va Code 2.2-3705.7(2) (the “working papers” exemption) and Va Code 2.2-3706(B)(5)(a public safety expemption).
