How long will it take to get paid for my Virginia car accident case?

In Virginia, personal injury claims are not paid out until the end of your case.  You get one single settlement check at the end of your claim.  Because of that, you are not able to receive settlement funds as you progress through treatment and your recovery.  Therefore, before making your claim, you want to be as close to fully recovered as possible.

But I have complex injuries. Won’t that take a long time?

Yes. The worse your injuries, the more time it will take to pursue you your claim. If your injuries are complex enough that your recovery will likely extend past your statute of limitations, your case will likely have to be filed in court to preserve your claim.

If you have an injury that is complex enough that your recovery requires treatment beyond a simple doctor’s visit, it’s safest to talk to an attorney to learn as much about your situation as possible.

Yes, this is frustrating. But unless you want to leave money on the table, you don’t have a choice.

At Abrenio Law, we understand that this can be frustrating.  Not only are you suffering from the injuries of your accident, your being forced into a drawn-out process of your personal injury claim.  However, remember that while it’s your desire to get your case resolved as quickly as possible, you don’t want to leave money on the table.

If you settle your claim before you’ve fully recovered, you cannot seek more funds after the fact. Once you’ve settled, you’ve settled.
