Nyomi Mebrahtu
Nyomi Mebrahtu grew up in Seattle, Washington. She is currently a senior at The George Washington University in D.C. where she studies Criminal Justice with a minor in Law and Societies.
Although she has long envisioned working in the law profession, her true passion for the law was sparked by the 2019 movie, Just Mercy. In particular, the movie showed her the significance of having a competent legal representation and how influential an advocate can be for someone navigating the law system. Her passion for the law comes from her deep belief in the principle of the rule of law where professionals in the law field are entrusted with maintaining integrity, fairness, and compassion. In addition to that, she firmly believes that everyone should be treated with respect and dignity, regardless of his/her background.
Before joining Abrenio Choe, Nyomi had accumulated valuable experience in both legal and public service fields where she gained more knowledge about the importance of the justice system and the significance of service to others. She understands that seeking legal aid is typically done during challenging times, and thus, respects the value of communication and listening to clients and approaching everything patience and respect. She looks forward to advancing her professional knowledge and experience with Abrenio Choe.
As a first-generation Ethiopian-American, Nyomi takes pride in her educational journey and the sacrifices her parents have made along the way. She hopes to attend law school after graduation and pursue a career dedicated to advocating for others and promoting fairness within the legal system.
In her free time, Nyomi enjoys spending time with her friends and family, watching legal dramas and travelling. She also speaks Amharic and Tigrinya.
