Along with co-counsel, in 2018, James Abrenio helped secure a $2 million settlement of a catastrophic case involving a child against a local school board. The death was the result of a motorized partition wall that was installed between the school’s music room and gymnasium. Tragically, during the operation of this wall, the child was caught up in the mechanism and suffered fatal injuries.
James, along with Lee Livingston, Bryan Slaughter and Kyle McKnew, and James’s previous partner, Ben Glass, were able to resolve this case. In addition, the school also agreed to change the name of its mascot to the penguin (the child’s favorite animal) and to dedicate a “reading corner” in the school’s library to his memory.
